Pederson-Sells Equipment, Inc. was founded as a wholesale/retail distributor of agricultural and hydraulic components serving the agricultural, industrial and mobile markets. Their customers included Ag implement dealers, fertilizer dealers, Ag equipment manufacturers, manufacturers of construction and industrial equipment, repair and hydraulic shops, and local and state departments of transportation in the upper Midwest area. The company's corporate headquarters was located in Fort Dodge, Iowa, with branch office/warehouse locations in Eagan, Minnesota; Bismarck, North Dakota; and Bloomington, Illinois.

Mid-America Power Drives Founded in 1970

Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mid-America Power Drives sold power take-offs, universal joints and drive shaft assemblies & Hydraulic systems to distributors and manufacturers of on- and off-highway mobile equipment within the Midwest and Canada. Led by company president, Hardy Morningstar, Mid-America was a “people” organization where the 5 employees took an active part and were considered what the company was all about.

Employee Ownership Begins in 1976

Bill Hassing and an Employee Stock Ownership Trust (ESOT) purchased Mid-America. The 18 employees' shared ownership of the company furthered Hardy Morningstar's belief in it being a "people" organization. Today, FORCE America is 100% Employee Owned as an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company.

Grand Opening of Burnsville Facility in 1983

A new 23,000 sqft office warehouse facility was constructed on Cliff Road in Burnsville, Minnesota. Employee owners totaled 23 and they served over 700 customers.

Electrical Division Created in 1992

Under President Ken Slipka, Mid-America began exploring advances in electronic control integration with hydraulic and mechanical components to bring about a more systematical approach. A dedicated electrical division was added to develop and manufacture electronic innovations to our customers. This along with company growth led to the construction of a new 15,000 sqft facility in Waukesha, WI.

Hydraulic Power Components, Inc. Acquisition in 1993

Mid-America acquired Hydraulic Power Components, Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri. This acquisition along with continued company growth led to increased sales and profitability. Employee owner count totaled near 80.

Mid-America & Pederson Merge in 1997

1997

Shareholders of Mid-America Power Drives Manufacturing & Distributing, Inc. and Pederson-Sells Equipment Co., Inc. voted to merge. Thus, FORCE America, Inc. was established to take the best of both organizations and mold them into an even stronger company and better service the demands of our growing market.

Valve Division Created in 1999

FORCE America, Inc. made investments in both equipment and people to begin a dedicated valve division. This investment has continued to be a focus for FORCE America. Since this time, our valve division has grown to design, engineer, manufacture and produce over 70,000 valves per year.

FORCE America Inc. acquired VariTech Industries, a manufacturer of salt-brine production systems, as another step in ongoing efforts to be the most complete manufacturer and supplier to the snow & ice control market. Today VariTech Industries is the industry leader of automatic salt-brine production, liquid storage, transfer and mobile application systems.

FORCE America, Inc. created a division specific to hose and fittings located in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Today we manufacture hose and fittings kits and stock components to meet our customers needs.

PreCise MRM Acquisition in 2009

FORCE America, Inc. acquired PreCise Mobile Resource Management (MRM) from Preco Electronics, based in Boise, Idaho. As an innovative provider of fleet management and telematics technologies for mobile equipment markets, the acquisition of PreCise MRM expanded FORCE America's ability to offer comprehensive solutions for a variety of Mobile Resource Management applications.

Valve Manufacturing Grand Opening in 2014

FORCE America, Inc. opened the doors to its new, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Alexandria, Minnesota. The new 64,000 sq. ft. facility manufactures integrated hydraulic circuits and custom manifolds designed for the on- and off-highway mobile markets.

In March of 2016, FORCE America announced its Valve Manufacturing, LLC division's achievement of ISO 9001:2008 certification. The scope of FORCE America’s certification, issued through TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc., includes the design, manufacturing, machining and supply chain of integrated hydraulic circuits and spool valves.

Atlanta Powertrain Acquisition in 2016

FORCE America, Inc. acquired Atlanta Powertrain & Hydraulics based in Conley, Georgia. Atlanta Powertrain™ provides  components and service for power-takeoffs, pumps and heavy-duty drivetrain components to the southeastern United States. Immediately following the acquisition, Atlanta Powertrain moved into a significantly larger facility in College Park, Georgia. The new site includes an enhanced Parker Truck Hydraulic Center and enables the team to provide additional services and inventory including expanding their offering to include the mobile fluid power solutions manufactured by FORCE America.
